A love for ice cream was realized in 1985 when Kelly got her first job at Temptations Ice Cream.  This new store on the boardwalk in Grand Haven was fun!  Homemade waffle cones, great ice cream, and a hub of activity was all it took for Kelly to be hooked.  When the store came up for sale in 1989, Kelly's parents, Ray and Diane Murray, made the plunge.  Over time, after Kelly graduated from college and Ray left his "real job", the family added three locations, including a candy store that was also on the boardwalk.

Shortly after that, Ray decided that he wanted to serve a better ice cream, and began experimenting with different flavors.  So, he learned how to make ice cream from all of the industry greats, and after mastering the skill, has grown to be very protective of all of his recipes!  (Check out the ice cream page for a list of our great flavors.)  Ray and his ice cream makers are always researching and concocting new flavors, so if you have a request, let us know and they'll make if for you!

We needed a year-round store to focus on our candy and ice cream making, so in 1999 Sweet Temptations was born.  We have continually added new products and have been learning the arts of candy making.  Our caramel corn is out of this world and Kelly's grandma could not be prouder of her peanut brittle. (Kelly just makes it in larger batches than she does!)

The next generation was born in 2002, and Kelly's daughter Natalie is quite happy in her apron helping her mom wait on customers and clean up.  As soon as she can see over the counter, she'll be scooping!
